Dr Sriram Sambaraju Explains ‘What Is A Basic Prostate Check?’
This is Dr Sriram, I am a Consultant Urologist. I have been associated with CARE for the past 5 years. Basically, urology is a branch that deals with the diseases affecting the genital urinary tract. So we deal with basic urology, general urology, endo urology, laparoscopic urology, uro gynecology and also renal transplantation.
Urology as a branch has made great strides in technology… so many new systems have come in place like retrograde intra renal surgery and laser systems. We have a state-of-the-art laser system installed at our premises, which can be used in the treatment of all kinds of stones affecting the kidney, the ureter, the bladder and also the diseases affecting the prostate.
Endo urology is a minimally invasive therapy used for treating the renal stones, ureteric stones, bladder stones and also the TURP of the prostate can be done regularly. And, as the adage goes, “Prevention is always better than cure”. So we always explain to our patients regarding the importance of prevention of genital urinary diseases. So any person over the age of 50 years walking in with complaints of poor urinary stream, dribbling, frequency, urgency … we encourage them to undergo the basic prostate check, which consists of CUE, creatinine, PSA levels, uroflowmetry and ultra-sound, which gives basic information regarding the condition of the prostate and helps in designing the management to treat the patient.
We at CARE Hospitals are a team of highly experienced individuals with over 50 years of experience between all of us. So it is a blend of senior persons as well as youth which can be used in decision making and proper treatment of patients.
