| CARE Byrraju |

|
|
CARE Foundation has taken up the operations of the
health module of the Byraju Foundation from July 1st
2009 onwards. The Foundation covers 200 villages
with million people population coverage in 6
districts of Coastal Andhra Region. The foundation
has been appreciated by Indian government and
international agencies for the innovative healthcare
delivery channels through “close to client model” of
fixed mobile doctor covering the villages. With the
ongoing work in the health component, CARE
Foundation would want to ADD-ON to the services
being provided by BYRRAJU and replicate the unique
innovations piloted at Yavatmal in Byraju in the
areas of handheld device technology and micro
insurance products. |

Current Status |
|
The service provided was well received by the
population with average attendance reaching close to
100,000 patients in a month. But each time service
fees were introduced/enhanced the attendance dropped
down and by end 2008, it was down to 55,000 visits
per month, though the number of villages had reached
200. The chronic disease attendance progressively
grew. On an average 500 patients are referred to
partner institutions(local medical colleges) for
secondary care every month. |
