CARE Hospitals, Nampally, Hyderabad, in association with the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI) organized the 4th Annual National Hospital Infection prevention and certificate course from 29th Sep to 1st Oct 2016. The program was attended by over 500 national and international delegates, including doctors, hospital administrators, students and nursing staff.
The largest event in the area of hospital infection control and prevention till date, the conference highlighted global issues related to hospital acquired infections (HAI) and anti microbial resistance (AMR), which is responsible for the death of millions every year. Chief guest Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Govt of India appreciated CARE Hospitals and IFCAI for conducting this unique program. He noted that the event was attended by many women delegates, who could be torch bearers for the “Swachh Bharat, Swachh Hospital” campaign, conceived by the organizers. He appealed to all delegates to implement this message across the country.
Dr D N Kumar, Medical Director, CARE Nampally urged the delegates to strictly implement HAI protocols in their hospitals. Organizing Secretary Dr Mustafa Afzal, Chief Microbiologist, CARE Nampally said a humble beginning in 2013 had snowballed into a phenomenal movement. Dr Ranga Reddy, President, IFCAI and Dr Vijay Mohan, Senior Physician Consultant also spoke. Going forward, the organizers plan to involve and collaborate with similar organizations worldwide, like CDC (USA), WHO, NCDC, APIC (USA), HPA (UK), etc.
