Recognizing the lack of affordable quality care in the field of liver disease, CARE Hospitals is setting up a group wide Centre for Liver Disease. The centre of excellence will offer a comprehensive liver disease program, including management and treatment of liver cancer, liver cirrhosis, acute liver failure, chronic liver disease, etc. Set to be the largest liver transplant program in the country, it will include both cadaver and live transplantation for adults and children and shall be available across all the facilities of the CARE Hospitals Group. The CARE Liver Transplant Program will be headed by internationally acclaimed liver transplant surgeon Prof P Thomas Cherian, Head, Department of Hepato Biliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation at the CARE Hospitals Group. The liver transplant team will be a multidisciplinary unit comprising of highly skilled and trained personnel across specialties and include transplant surgeons, transplant hepatologists — adult and pediatric, transplant anesthesiologists and critical care specialists, as well as lab specialists experienced in transplantation.
