Heart surgery, Cardiac surgery in Hyderabad
The heart is the most interesting part of your body, working like a mechanical pump non-stop it makes sure that the rest of the organs get sufficient blood every second, everyday. Located on the left side of your body, it pumps blood to send it around the body; this provides the body with the oxygen and nutrients it requires. Your heart works like a pump, or two pumps working simultaneously. The right side of your heart receives the blood and pumps it to the lungs. The left side does the exact opposite- it receives the blood from the lungs and pumps it out of the body.
Any sort of discrepancy in this process can bring about drastic health issues. Hence to address these issues, a cardiac surgery is carried out. A heart surgery can be done for various heart related problems; most common of the cardiac surgeries is the Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) - a procedure where a healthy artery or vein is grafted to a blocked artery in the heart. There are two more procedures that our surgeons are well versed with, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and Beating Heart Surgery. In Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, as opposed to open heart surgeries which take longer time to recover, surgeons work through small incisions on the left of your chest where your heart is located. The procedure takes place at the region between the ribs and the whole split above the breast bone is not required. Whilst this, the heart surgeon has a better view of the heart than in the open heart surgery where it’s more painful and recovery takes in a lot of time. In Beating Heart Bypass Surgery, unlike in the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery where your heart is temporarily paused and blood in your body is temporarily pumped by a machine called as a heart-lung machine, the surgery is done while the heart is still beating. In this procedure the heart is not temporarily paused and it will not require an additional device to pump blood. Surgeons use tissue stabilization system to immobilize the area of the heart where they need to work. Studies and research prove that this surgery comes with fewer side effects than the regular heart surgeries in some type of patients.
