Common Winter Ailments & How to Deal With Them
Winter might be a great time of the year but it does invite infections and diseases that spoil our chances of enjoying the season to the fullest. In today’s post, we are going to take a look at some of the common winter ailments and how we can deal with them in an easy way!
A common ailment during the winter season, colds are not that difficult to manage. Eating the right things and taking necessary precautions are good enough to help you recuperate. Adding a spoon of honey to a warm glass of milk could ease your cold as the antioxidants can battle bacteria that cause colds. You can also drink a mixture of warm water and a teaspoon of black pepper to heal faster. Black pepper lowers the flow of mucus and relieves you from pain.
A sore throat could bother you during winter. To treat this effectively, you will need some tomato juice. Tomatoes bear antioxidant properties that are good for the throat. You can mix some tomato juice with hot pepper sauce in a glass of warm water. Gargling this twice a day can get you great results!
Joint pain may occur all of a sudden, or creep up silently. The reason behind this is usually a vitamin deficiency or bad health. However, you can heal this with the help of Epsom salt. Soaking your sore joints in warm water mixed with Epsom salt helps bring relief.
To fight dry skin during winter, stay hydrated by eating and using the right things. Massage your body with olive oil as it balances the pH level and moisturizes your skin. Coconut oil does the trick too. In terms of foods, eat strawberries, watermelon and walnuts. Walnuts contain Omega 3 which helps your skin retain moisture, whereas watermelon and strawberries are filled with water that protect and hydrate your skin throughout the day.
