CARE Expertise

CARE Hospitals brings together a multidisciplinary team of heart transplant specialists comprising of cardiologists, skilled cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, Interventional Radiologists, critical care Intensivists, and well-trained nursing and technical staff along with some other related healthcare professionals

In the Pre-Transplant work-up, the fitness of the patient is evaluated by conducting various tests such as biochemistry analysis, blood tests, tumor markers, viral markers, radiology evaluation, CT-Scans, Angiogram, endoscopy, and ECHO test. Thereafter, a complete evaluation is done by specialists like cardiologists, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, physiotherapists, dentists, Anesthetist, psychiatrists, and dietitians.

During your heart transplant, the surgeon and CARE team will:
Connect you to a heart-lung machine that imitates the work of your heart and takes the strain off your lungs. It pumps oxygen-rich, filtered blood into your body so your heart is still during the operation.
Remove your diseased heart
Replace it with the healthy donor heart

You will stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) for a few days and then be moved to a regular room in the hospital. Meanwhile, you will be monitored for any signs or symptoms of rejection, such as fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, weight gain or not urinating as much.
You'll need to make several long-term adjustments post to heart transplant:
Taking immunosuppressants
Managing therapies, medications, and a lifelong care plan
Cardiac rehabilitation
