An alumnus of St. John’s Medical College, he completed his General Surgery residency at CSI Holdsworth Memorial Hospital, Mysore, and pursued super-specialization in Surgical Oncology (DrNB) from Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai. He further trained as a Fellow with the American Head & Neck Society at the University of Manitoba, Canada.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Agrawal has successfully performed more than 200 major oncologic surgeries.   • 10/2017 - 10/2018: Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, India, Principal Investigator, Dr Rakesh Katna
    • We did a prospective study of 531 patients with oral cavity malignancy to assess the impact of comorbidity on the post operative. We, in our study also compared two comorbidity scoring systems to evaluate which one out of the two is a better predictor of post operative outcome among Indian patients. This is one of the largest multicenter prospective study among Indian patients to study the impact of comorbidities on the post operative outcome among patients with oral cavity cancer.
  • 06/2017 – 04/2019: Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, India Principal Investigator, Dr Prakash Patil, Dr Rakesh Katna
    • We did a descriptive study among patients with Papillary thyroid cancers to determine whether a prophylactic central compartmental neck dissection should be preferred over therapeutic neck dissection in the Indian context.

    • We performed a randomised controlled trial to compare the incidence of venous thromboembolism in high risk general surgical patients on single pharmacological thromboprophylactic agent versus single pharmacological thromboprophylaxis with graduated compression stockings. This study was part of my thesis

    • We performed a retrospective study to study the incidence of venous thromboembolism in our hospital among high risk general surgical patients on single pharmacological thromboprophylactic agent (unfractionated heparin/ Low molecular weight heparin) and presented our data in the general surgery state conference in February 2015.
  • 02/2010 - 04/2010: St John's Medical College, Bangalore, India, Principal Investigator, Dr Bobby Joseph, Dr Naveen Ramesh 
    • I worked as a principal investigator and evaluated the profile of occupational accidents that we came across in a rural plantation based hospital. It was a single-center retrospective chart review of all the patients presenting to the referral hospital with an occupational accident from January 2008 through December, 2009.

    • This was a prospective study. We compared the illness severity scores (CRIB - Clinical Risk Index for Babies, CRIB 2 and SNAPPE 2 - Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology - Perinatal Extension) of the inborn neonates of our neonatology ward and presented our data in the neonatology state conference.
