What is ACL Reconstruction? ACL Reconstruction is a surgical procedure to repair torn ACL The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of four major ligaments in the knee It helps keep the knee stable and moving properly Procedure of ACL Reconstruction A small incision is made in front of the knee Middle Section of Patellar tendon along with Bone plugs is taken Remaining portion of patellar tendon is sutured Small Incisions are made Arthroscope and Surgical Instruments are inserted A bone tunnel is drilled into tibia and femur Graft is pulled through into position Screws are used to hold the graft in the drill holes Incisions are closed with sutures Post-Treatment Care after ACL Reconstruction Follow exercise plan as prescribed Take medicines as prescribed Keep operated leg elevated at a minimum of a 45 angle Avoid strenuous activity Avoid lifting heavy objects Keep the incisions dry Speak to your doctor for more information on ACL Reconstruction
