Fight Against Congenital Heart Defects Walkathon

Hyderabad 14th February 2023: With aim of raising the awareness about growing incidences and death from congenital heart diseases in children, CARE Hospital Banjara hills organized a walkathon on the eve of congenital heart disease awareness weak at necklace road on Tuesday more than 100 children who over come their heart defects, their parents, doctors, and hospital staff gathered to participated in the walkathon. This was flagged by honourable Justice Dr. Radha Rani in the gracious presence of Dr.Tapan Dash, Dr. Kavitha Chintalla, and Dr.Prashanth Patil.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a defect in heart structure that present at birth. About 1 in 100 children are born with heart defects. This is one of the leading causes of death in children. The defect ranges from mild such as holes in the heart to severe like missing or poorly formed part of the heart. People should know that most of the congenital heart diseases are curable either by surgery or by intervention for simple diseases like holes in the heart the surgeries rate is almost 100% and in case of complex heart defects more than 90% babies can still be cured or at least palliated to lead a normal life. So parents of children born with heart disease should not be panicked, said Dr.Tapan Dash, director and HOD of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery CARE Hospitals Banjara hills, on this occasion since last 15 years more than 8000 congenital heart surgeries have been performed in CARE Hospitals with excellent outcome he added.
