Mr. Abhijeet, 32-year-old patient ‘beats’ back to life after successful Heart Transplant

Patient Experience Mr. Abhijeet Gupta Heart Transplant For the past 5-6 years, Mr. Abhijeet has been suffering from DCMP (Dilated cardiomyopathy). This condition caused his heart to become so weak that he was bed ridden and couldn’t even walk a few metres. Because of his weak heart, swelling started appearing in his right & left legs, abdomen, and face, and his weight shot upto 85 kgs. He was referred to various super speciality hospitals in Chennai and Hyderabad for a LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device). Finally he was evaluated by Dr. Nagesh and team who suggested a heart transplant instead (being 4 times cheaper than a LVAD, and shows a higher life expectancy in comparison). After being put on special injections to keep his heart working till the time of operation, his weight dropped from 82 kgs to 64 kgs. He underwent a heart transplant on Jan 30th, 2021 under Dr. Nagesh and team at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, and is recovering very well.
