Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a surgery performed on patients with severe coronary heart disease. It is characterized by gradual build-up of plaque within arteries responsible for supplying blood to the heart. As a result, the amount of blood flow to the heart is reduced leading to chest pain. A heart attack might also result when the arteries are completely blocked.
With the help of a CABG surgery, the symptoms are reduced and so is the risk of developing a heart attack. Under the surgery, an artery or vein from some other part of the body is used to bypass the blocked vessels, hence restoring the blood flow to the heart. It can be performed using two techniques- off pump or beating heart surgery and on pump or cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.
At Care Hospitals, all patients are treated with utmost care. Our cardiac specialists offer comprehensive treatment plans to patients suffering from heart related ailments.
