An implantable cardioverter defibrillator is a battery powered device that keeps a track of a patient’s heart rate. The device is planted near collar bone and sends out electric shocks to stabilize erratic heartbeat. ICDs are life savers for patients with sustained ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation. Two tests- EKG and Echocardiography are done before the surgery. Since it is a minor surgery, defibrillator procedure is done under local anesthesia. Strenuous activity is avoided for 1-2 months after the surgery.
At Care Hospitals, we offer round the clock emergency, preventive and rehabilitation heart care to all our patients.
