Updated on 18 August 2022

The immune system is the most important part of the human body. But, with time & age, it may lose its grip over its purpose & may need a little helping hand every now & then. There are several foods good for immunity. To boost immunity we often take supplements or simply mend our lifestyle, eat healthily and hope that everything will be alright. But, as we stated, the immune system does need a hand every now and then, and by eating specific foods for good immune power, we can help the body mend organically.

Seven Food That Boosts Immunity System

Here are 7 of the best foods for immunity power that help boost our immune system naturally,

1. Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C. Fruits like grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, lemons, papaya is very helpful when it comes to rebuilding the immune. Also, while vitamin C may help in the growth and repair of body tissues, there’s no evidence so far that it is effective against the Novel Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2.

2. Red bell peppers

If you are under the impression that citrus fruits contain the maximum Vitamin C, think twice. Red bell peppers contain close to 3 times as much vitamin C as a Florida orange. They’re also a reservoir of beta carotene. Alongside boosting your immune system, Vitamin C helps you maintain healthy skin. Beta carotene, which the body converts into Vit A, helps keep your eyes & skin healthy.

3. Broccoli

is loaded with vitamins & minerals. Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fibres & many antioxidants. Broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables of all time. The key to keeping its potency intact is to cook it as less as possible or better yet, not at all. Research has shown that steaming is the best way to keep most of its nutrients intact.

‍4. Moringa

Moringa (sahjana phali) leaves are an extremely rich source of Iron & Vitamin A, both of which are extremely essential for the normal function of the immune system.Moringa also helps in muscle growth, digestion, controlling diabetes and skin health.

5. Garlic

is common in almost every cuisine in the world. Not only does it add an intense flavor to food but it’s a must-have anyway.Garlic also slows down the hardening of arteries and has also shown to help lower blood pressure. Garlic Immune-boosting properties come from a heavy concentration of sulfur-containing compounds, like allicin.

6. Ginger

is yet another common ingredient many turn to when sick. It helps decrease inflammation and itchiness, which can help in soothing sore throat and inflammatory illnesses. Ginger helps well with nausea too. It also packs some heat in the form of gingerol, a relative of capsaicin. Ginger may also decrease chronic pain.

7. Spinach

made it to the list not only because it’s loaded with vitamin C but it’s also packed with numerous antioxidants & beta carotene, which may both increase the health of our immune systems. Similar to broccoli, spinach is in it’s healthiest state when cooked the least. However, light cooking makes it easier to absorb the Vit A & allows other nutrients to be released from oxalic acid, an anti-nutrient.

There are many other organic food choices that are not mentioned in this list but our aim was to include choices that are relatively easily available and easy to include in one’s diet. Boosting the immune system is the need of the hour and it’s time we prioritize our health before anything else.
